Samsung's New Winter Sale Has ViewFinity S9 5K Smart Monitor for $999.99 ($600 Off) Among Other Sitewide Deals

Samsung has a new Winter sale that began today, offering discounts across monitors, TVs, smartphones, tablets, computers, and home appliances. Many of the deals in this sale are the same prices we tracked during Samsung's Black Friday sale, and some are even beating their all-time low Black Friday prices.

The highlight of the sale is Samsung's ViewFinity S9 5K Smart Monitor at $999.99, down from $1,599.99. This is a new record low price on the monitor, and it beats the previous all-time low price seen at Amazon last week by a few dollars.

Additionally, the Smart Monitor M8 is at its all-time low price on Amazon, available for $399.99 ($300 off). This has been one of the all-around best monitor deals we've tracked during this holiday season, and it's hard to say if it'll return after this sale ends, so if you want it for Christmas be sure to place an order soon.

Samsung is encouraging users to shop through the Shop Samsung mobile app this season, which has some exclusive deals and deep discounts on smartphones, smartwatches, and mobile accessories. Clicking any of the Samsung links in this post while on mobile should give you the option to install the app.

Other than monitors and TVs, we're also now tracking quite a few deals on refrigerators, tablets, and computers below. These sale prices will be live for this week only, so be sure to check out Samsung's event before the best prices of the year disappear.

That's a very good price for that Viewfinity S9 5K "retina" monitor. Unlike ASD, it comes with:
[LIST=1]
* most of the added-cost stand options (included),
* DUAL inputs for both Mac and a PC/other,
* a much superior webcam (and easily removable vs. the duct tape option) and
* has access to TV-like apps to make it double as a 27" television too (remote control included).

For those:

* able to look past brands, there's good value there.
* longing for an iMac 27" at old iMac 27" "starting at..." under $2K pricing, this price plus a Mac Mini can actually deliver on that want (in the form of separates).

Other than whenever Samsung gets around to discontinuing it, this is about as low as I think they will go... following the history of their usual discounts for products like their televisions.

$999.99 hmmmm interesting. Still would rather get the ASD with its glossy panel and superior construction.
Maybe, but its now twice the price to get a Studio Display with a comparable stand, so it's a good choice to have - you're talking about a dual display setup for the price of a single SD with height-adjustable stand. Not entirely surprising that the price has "dropped" - fairly typical for the "street price" of non-Apple products to be substantially below the originally announced retail price.

Also, if I were currently looking for a display, the Apple Studio Display's lack of multiple video inputs (so, no sneaky plugging in a console, PC or secondary laptop) would be a deal-breaker for me.

Meh...so when is a ProMotion 120Hz 5K panel coming?
Probably waiting for a computer that can drive it - it's not just about interface bandwidth, its about being able to run 3D software smoothly enough at 5k to make running at > 60fps it worthwhile.

I recently got a 49” Samsung smart monitor.

If you don’t want the smart features, you will absolutely hate that they’re there.

At $999 the Samsung 5K starts to make sense vs its identical to Apple Studio Display starting MSRP of $1,599. Dollar for dollar it pales in comparison to Apple's offering, but at $600 off, I can see a market position for it.

I would still recommend the Apple monitor to those not constrained by budget because of how well it integrates with MacOS and the overall build quality.

So, "the S9 will be on sale for $999 by Black Friday" prediction was only a couple of weeks off after all... (did anybody ever manage to pay the full $1599 for it...?)
